Baku (Turkey News) Azerbaijan has strongly protested against resolutions passed by the parliaments of Belgium and the Netherlands and summoned the ambassadors of both countries to its Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry, the protest was formally registered on 20 April, during which Belgian Ambassador Julien de Frepont and Dutch Ambassador Marianne de Jong were separately summoned.
Azerbaijan stated that the resolutions adopted on 16 April are against its sovereignty and territorial integrity and could undermine ongoing peace efforts in the region.
The Foreign Ministry said the claims included in these resolutions constitute a serious violation of international law and amount to interference in state affairs.
Baku further noted that such actions during ongoing peace negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia could negatively impact positive developments in the process.
In its statement, Azerbaijan urged both European countries to take action against elements within their parliaments that are damaging bilateral relations.
