Islamabad (Turkiya News): The Supreme Court has appointed Advocate Salman Safdar as a Friend of the Court and directed him to submit a report on the condition of PTI founder Imran Khan in prison. The hearing was conducted by a two-member bench comprising Chief Justice Yahya Afridi and Justice Shahid Bilal Hasan.
In the previous hearing, the court had requested a detailed report on Imran Khan’s prison conditions and noted that a decision on the case’s maintainability could not be made without hearing the other party’s opinion.
At the start of today’s hearing, Chief Justice Afridi prevented lawyer Latif Khosa from speaking. Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan informed the court that, in accordance with the August 24, 2023 order, a written response had already been submitted to the chambers, including medical reports from August 5 to 18. He requested that the court acknowledge in its order that the report has been submitted.
The Chief Justice noted that there was no record of any order after the August 24 directive that indicated the court’s satisfaction. Salman Safdar was appointed as Friend of the Court, with the bench expressing confidence in him.
