International Cybersecurity Training Exercises in Baku, Special Focus on Financial System Protection

Baku (Turkey News): Large-scale international cybersecurity training exercises are being held in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku, from today until April 24.

According to details, the program is being organized in cooperation between Estonia’s e-Governance Academy and the Association of Cybersecurity Organizations of Azerbaijan, with participation from representatives of government institutions, operators of critical infrastructure, cybersecurity organizations, and private financial institutions.

The training activities include key topics such as managing cybersecurity risks for the stability of financial systems, assessing emergency response capabilities, exchanging information on malicious software, and identifying network threats.

The program has been designed to incorporate both strategic and technical aspects in order to further enhance the practical and professional skills of participants.

A seminar on cybersecurity risk management in the financial sector will highlight modern approaches adopted in the European Union and the impact of cyber threats on financial stability. Participants will also be given the opportunity to assess their emergency response capabilities based on organizational structure, human resources, technical tools, and operational procedures.

Technical training is specifically focused on Computer Emergency Response and CERT teams, covering practical tools, threat intelligence sharing, detection of malicious activities, and improving operational response systems.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Executive Director of the Association of Cybersecurity Organizations, Rauf Jabarov, said that such initiatives strengthen institutional cooperation, enhance practical knowledge, and improve effective response capabilities.

Project Manager at the e-Governance Academy, Elsa Nõmme, said that cooperation with strong local partners makes these initiatives more aligned with real needs and enhances long-term resilience, collaboration, and institutional capacity.

These training activities are being held with financial support under the European Union’s Cyber Resilience Project for Eastern Partnership Countries II and are being implemented in collaboration with local partners.
