Istanbul (Turkey Khabar) On the sidelines of the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union underway in Istanbul, the 41st Forum of Women Parliamentarians was held, where emphasis was placed on the importance of global peace, dialogue, and inclusion. Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova, in her address presented the report of the 15th Women Speakers’ Summit held in 2025, stating that the current era is marked by conflicts, tensions, and rising inequalities, in which parliamentarians must become part of the solution.
She said that the world urgently needs the power of dialogue and inclusion to establish peace, and that parliaments should play an active role in this regard. According to Sahiba Gafarova, the presented report is essentially a declaration approved by women parliamentary leaders, inviting parliaments worldwide to unite and take measures to promote peace and inclusion.
She stated that calls for practical action often emerge during periods of crisis, conflict, and instability, rather than in peaceful times. She expressed concern that the impacts of ongoing wars, violence, and threats in different regions of the world are severely affecting women and girls, leading to serious consequences for their future.
She urged participants of the forum to show solidarity with women and girls living in conflict-affected areas and to accelerate joint efforts for their protection and a better future.
