The report states that severe violations of fundamental human rights continue, with strict restrictions on state repression and public freedoms.
According to UNAMA, restrictions on independent journalism and media remain in place under the Taliban government, and these restrictions have intensified in recent months. Journalists face threats, arrests, and censorship, limiting access to independent information.
The report also challenges the Taliban’s claims of general amnesty. Former government officials and members of security forces continue to be targeted, contrary to the announced policies.
