Free Maritime Passage in Strait of Hormuz Essential for Global Economy: Türkiye

Moscow (Turkiye Khabar): Following talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that the safe, free, and uninterrupted passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz is essential for regional stability, global energy security, and international trade.

He described the agreement reached between Iran and United States as an important diplomatic development, saying it could help reduce tensions in the region.

According to Hakan Fidan, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also emphasizes that this development should not remain a temporary calm but should evolve into a permanent and strong security framework.

He expressed hope that the agreement would soon reach the final signing stage and be fully implemented as a lasting diplomatic framework.

The Turkish Foreign Minister said that during this sensitive phase, it is important to avoid statements and actions that could harm the atmosphere of peace, and to remain cautious of potential obstacles from certain elements.

He praised the political commitment of the leaders of Iran and the United States, noting that it played a significant role in the progress. He also appreciated Pakistan’s mediation efforts and welcomed the diplomatic support of Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
