Ankara (Turkiye Khabar): A new strategic agreement has been reached between companies from Turkey and Slovakia to expand access of Turkish-made armored land vehicles to the European defense market.
The partnership is being implemented through the establishment of a joint venture between a Turkish defense industry company and a Slovak group, aiming to promote the production of armored platforms at the European level, while the design, research and development, and licensing rights will remain with the Turkish company.
Under the agreement, work will initially focus on the production of a modern medium-weight tank, which was recently showcased in Slovakia. This new combat platform is based on an existing Turkish-made armored vehicle model, which has previously been supplied to the Indonesian army. It also includes a modern 120 mm artillery system.
The vehicle is being developed as a combination of high firepower, improved protection capabilities, and strong mobility, aimed at meeting the requirements of modern warfare.
According to both parties, the project will not only enhance defense cooperation but also further strengthen Türkiye’s presence in the European defense market.
