Mogadishu (Turkiye Khabar): The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) has provided modern equipment to Somalia to improve and modernize the administrative operations of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation.
Somalia’s Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Mohamed Abdi Hayir Mareye said in a statement that this assistance from Turkey will enhance institutional efficiency, speed up service delivery, and help the country achieve food self-sufficiency.
After the ceremony held in Mogadishu, the minister thanked the Turkish development agency, calling the support a positive and important step from the brotherly country Turkey. He added that the request for this assistance was presented during a meeting held in Ankara in 2025.
The equipment provided includes computers, printers, and television screens.
He further noted that close friendly relations between Somalia and Turkey have existed since 2011, when then Turkish Prime Minister and current President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan visited Somalia. Since then, Turkey has provided over one billion dollars in humanitarian and development assistance to Somalia, including projects in health, education, municipal services, and infrastructure.
