Islamabad (Turkiye News): Dubai-based newspaper The National has, in a report, described Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir as a focal point of international attention, stating that he is playing an important role in diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions between Iran and the United States.
According to the report, Pakistan’s efforts for peace in the region have not only drawn global attention but have also highlighted the country’s military leadership on the international stage. It added that, given the current situation and its impact on energy supply routes and the global economy, mediation efforts have gained critical importance.
The report further stated that former US President Donald Trump, during a meeting at the White House last year, described Field Marshal Asim Munir as an exceptional personality and even referred to him as his “favored military leader.”
The newspaper also mentioned the King Abdulaziz Medal awarded by Saudi Arabia to Field Marshal Asim Munir, saying it further enhanced his international recognition.
The analytical report noted that before assuming Pakistan’s top military leadership role, Field Marshal Asim Munir had served in key intelligence positions, including Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Military Intelligence.
It further stated that he was promoted to Field Marshal by the government of Pakistan in recognition of his services following regional tensions last year, calling it an acknowledgment of his contributions to military leadership and national security.
The report concluded that his global role is receiving increasing attention at a time when diplomatic efforts and peace negotiations in the region are rapidly progressing.
