Istanbul/Ankara (Turkiye News): Turkey has welcomed the temporary ceasefire reached between the United States and Iran.
In a statement issued by the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was emphasized that full implementation of the ceasefire on the ground is essential, expressing hope that all parties will adhere to the agreed terms.
The statement further noted that achieving lasting peace is only possible through negotiations, diplomacy, and mutual trust. Türkiye also reaffirmed its commitment to providing full support for the success of the talks scheduled in Islamabad.
Türkiye appreciated Pakistan’s role in this process and expressed the desire for continued efforts toward promoting peace.
Meanwhile, Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz, in a statement on the U.S. social media platform X, described the development as highly significant for regional and global stability.
He said that during the temporary ceasefire, all parties should avoid actions that could escalate tensions, adhere to the agreement, and move forward with wisdom. He added that the greatest expectation is that this process will lead to lasting peace in the region.
Cevdet Yilmaz further stated that under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Türkiye will continue its multi-dimensional peace diplomacy and strengthen its role as a “safe haven” in the post-war period.
